Writing 9:25-10:05
Writing is a community event where students will learn the art of creating, editing and revising!
First quarter: Students will work on creating a personal narrative. They will learn and revisit elements of the writing process (editing, revising, and publishing) while creating a personal narrative. Students will brainstorm personal narrative topics then choose a topic and complete the writing process through the rough draft.
Second quarter: Students will continue to work on their narrative and complete the published copy approximately 4 weeks into the second marking period. The remainder of the second quarter will be spent on an the beginning stages of the informative writing piece
Third Quarter:
During the third quarter students will continue working on their informative writing pieces. Students will choose a topic, research the topic and complete the writing process (editing, revising, and publishing) to publish a final draft. Informative writing pieces will be complete a few weeks before the end of the third quarter. The remainder of the third quarter will be spent on the beginning stages of the opinion writing piece.
Fourth Quarter:
Students will learn how to choose a topic that is meaningful to them and develop their opinion to effectively tap into their readers' emotions. The art of creating a writing piece using editing, revising, publishing will continue. Opinion writing pieces will be complete about 3 weeks prior to the end of the school year.
